Lord Balfe, a Cambridge resident, is the Conservative Party Envoy to the Trades Union and Cooperative Movement and is President of the Cambridge City Conservative Association.
He joined the House of Lords in 2013 in recognition of many years advising the Party on trades union matters. He has previously served for 8 years as President of Tottenham Conservatives and Chairman and Vice Chairman of West Suffolk Conservatives. He served as an MEP from the first European elections in 1979 until his retirement in 2004.
He was born in Mildenhall near Cambridge and has spent a considerable portion of his life in East Anglia.
