Another great event organised by Gina Youens for the Cambridge City Conservatives took place on the 10th May.
Fourteen people arrived in London for the guided tour of the House of Lords organised by Gina Youens.
Our President Lord Balfe met us inside and we had a very good tour guide. We were taken through Westminster Hall and into St Stephens Hall before proceeding into the House of Lords. Everyone was most interested in the grandeur of the building and the artwork and decorations throughout. The number of hereditary peers was explained and how the work of the Lords differs from that of the Commons, notably the scrutiny involved.
The Queen was due to visit the following week and preparations were underway for that. It wasn’t at all crowded which helped to make the day more enjoyable. The morning was finished with a very pleasant lunch in Central Hall.
